Koh Phi Phi Island is one of the beautiful spots near Phuket with towering limestone, lagoons, and a world famous beach – Maya Bay. Known for its beauty, the Phi Phi Island Day Tour covers two main islands – Phi Phi Leh and Phi Phi Don. Leh is inhabitable, while the Don has hotels, restaurants, shops, and more to explore. So, let’s start our virtual tour.

How To Reach The “Pee Pee” Island

You can book from one of the online ticket booking platforms for the Phi Phi Island Speedboat Tour. It takes about 30 minutes to get to Phuket, and you have to pay an extra 400 Baht in cash to cover your National Park entrance fee. You can also choose a package that already includes a National Park fee. We suggested later.

The best time for the Phi Phi Island Boat Tour is during the dry season, which starts in November and ends in April. If you want to avoid crowds, come in early October or later April. Phi Phi Island Tour price may also vary with peak time and by late April. So, you will get the best view and the deal!

Speedboat Vs. Longtail – How To Get To Phi Phi Island

Phi Phi Island is about 40 km from Phuket in the Andaman Sea. There are a total of six islands but only two are main (Phi Phi Leh and Phi Phi Don). Opt for a speedboat (30 minutes) as you reach your destination quickly and save time to spend on the island. Another way of transportation is the long tail boat (2 hours), but they are slow & can make the journey to the island feel longer. So, we recommend booking via DMC Thailand, which offers speedboat rides to the Phi Phi, along with hotel transfers.

Packing For Phi Phi Island Boat Tour

Once you are on the boat, you won’t get a chance to go back to the hotel to bring the missing items. So, here is the list of essentials that you must bring with you for the Phi Phi Island Speedboat Tour:

  • A copy of your passport for entry to the National Park
  • Sunblock (opt for reef-safe)

  • Motion sickness/ Sea sickness meds
  • Cash for personal expenses
  • Basic Items – caps, hats, sunglasses, cover-ups, etc.

Now that you are packed let’s sit in our speedboat and start island hopping.

The Eye Candies Of Phi Phi Island Tour Phuket – Don’t Miss Any!

Your 7 hours of Phi Phi Island Day Tour begins with the famous beach, known for movie shoots and drop-dead beauty.

Maya Bay [around 10:00 am]

It is one of the most photogenic places on earth and the main thing that attracts tourists globally. This 250-meter-long beach is surrounded by limestone cliffs with clear turquoise water and baby sharks swimming around. The sand is as white as snow, and everything looks so perfect.

Take a 5-minute’ walk around the beach to reach the back side of Maya Bay for that stunning view. Note that this place is closed during rainy seasons (August to September) for conservation efforts by the Thai government.

Tip: By the end of this 250-meter-long beach, there is a shallow cave and less crowd. So, you can take photos without being disturbed by many.

Pileh Lagoon [around 11:00 am]

Our next stop is the Pileh Lagoon, surrounded by giant rock walls. This place is accessible via boat. The boat driver will turn the motor off so you can enjoy the view for a while. It’s a popular spot for swimming and snorkeling since the water is clean and shallow. You might see some fish, but there are no corals at this spot.

Tip: It feels like swimming in a natural pool with cliffs protecting it from wind and waves.

Viking Cave [around 11:30 am]

This cave got its name from the painting of Viking vessels found on its walls. This cave is well known for bird nest harvesting, where local collectors climb walls to collect nests made by swiftlet birds. These nests are highly valued in China for making bird’s nest soup.

This cave isn’t open to the public, but you can watch it from a distance.

Monkey Beach [around 11:45 am]

It’s a beautiful sandy beach inhabited by playful monkeys. The clean water and lush green make it a popular spot for tourists, too. You can watch monkey’s antics and take photos, but be careful. Even though these monkeys are used to human presence, don’t feed or provoke them.

Phi Phi Don [around 12:30 pm]

This is the main hub of most tourists. The island has a lively atmosphere, vibrant nightlife, and stunning beauty. It is the only habitable island and here, you are going to relax and enjoy your lunch while watching the view.

After lunch, you can explore the island, do some shopping (although items here are going to be a little pricey), and relax on the beach. You can enjoy water activities too. This island has famous Viewpoints with panoramic views of the island and surrounding sea. A short hike to these Viewpoints will be worthwhile. Don’t forget to take the cameras with you.

Note: Tonsai is the main town of Phi Phi Don, which has restaurants, bars, shops, and hotels.

Khai Island [around 02:00 pm]

This island has an abundance of coral reefs and is a great place for snorkeling. The water is clear and visible, making it an ideal spot for enthusiasts.

Water Activities To Enjoy At Phi Phi Tour Phuket

If you thought the islands were the only highlight of this tour, hold on! How can we miss the water sports and activities to enjoy? Let’s see which one fits your comfort:

  • Snorkeling: Watch colorful fishes, coral reefs, and come across a variety of marine life like sea turtles and small reef sharks (no! they won’t hurt). While most DMC in Thailand provide snorkeling gear with the ticket, ensure to check before booking. Snorkeling will give you a chance to see the underwater world of Phi Phi Island Boat Tour. It is one of the most sought-after activities on the island.
  • Scuba Diving: The crystal clear water of Phi Phi gives you full visibility of stunning coral formations and underwater caves. Some popular dive sites are Bida Nok, Bida Nai, and the King Cruiser Wreck.
  • Kayaking: It’s an excellent way to see hidden lagoons, sea caves, and secluded beaches that are otherwise hard to reach via boats.
  • Swimming: Enjoy some refreshing time swimming in the serene water of Phi Phi Island. The calm and clear water is perfect for relaxing and exploring.
  • Paddle Boarding: Stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) is a great option to view islands and sea. Also, you get a full-body workout for the day!
  • Fishing: Specific areas allow you to catch fish native to the Andaman Sea. Ensure you have the necessary equipment and permission.
  • Jet Skiing: Run a race, but on a water surface! This is a must for adrenaline-rush seekers and a chance to explore the entire coastline at high speed.
  • Parasailing: Rise above water to have a drone view of the entire island with your eyes. Don’t forget to take pictures.

Note: Not all of these activities are included in the Phi Phi-Khai Island Tour ticket. So, bring some cash and a card if you want to participate.

Enjoy The Phi Phi View One Last Time

At around 03:30 pm, you will head back from Phi Phi to Phuket via Speed boat. While leaving your footprints on the sand and taking wonderful memories with you, don’t forget to have a one-last-time look at the panoramic view of the islands.

Soak in the sun on the speedboat and enjoy the sun dropping down the horizon while you end your wonderful day trips with a lot of photos to be sorted for ‘Insta.’ By 05:00 pm or so, you will be back at the hotel, getting ready for dinner and the next beauty Phuket has to offer.
